Ongeveer een jaar geleden voerde ik een kleine polemiek met de leden van een Bosnische vereniging hier in Nederland. Zij deden toen via e-mail een oproep voor hulp bij de bouw van een heilig huis ergens in Nederland.

The third Dancing on the Edge festival, featuring contemporary dance and theatre performances from the Middle East and North Africa, will take place from the 6th to the 17th of December in five Dutch cities: Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Groningen and The Hague. The artistic director of the festival, Gary Feingold, is a Jewish former dancer from Los Angeles who has lived abroad for 30 years. He had originally envisioned a festival featuring Israeli and Palestinians performers, but instead it's become a showcase for Middle Eastern arts and culture and an opportunity to acquaint European audiences with the many interesting developments in the performing arts that are taking place in the region.

Alan Yadegariayan is an Iranian-Dutch artist and theatre director. Recently, he's also been busy writing. He does not want to be seen as a political activist on the stage, but he likes political performances. "What's important to me is to engage the public with social issues and share some understandings." His life changed completely after the Islamic revolution in 1979 in Iran. This is his story.

Tahmina Akefi (1983) is journalist en schrijver. In de jaren negentig, toen deburgeroorlog in Afghanistan uitbrak, vluchtte ze met haar familie naar Nederland. In 2009 ging ze voor het eerst weer terug en schreef 'Geen van ons keek om'.
